It’s been a while since I have written. The reasons included selling our home, buying another, and moving. There should be a law about two pack-rats living together. There is nothing like a move to help a person realize how rapidly things, left in the dark, will reproduce. Our new home is a perfect fit, so now it is time to shift focus again.
During this time I came to a decision. Rather than discussing a chart, which only students can understand, I will discuss some of the ways that a chart’s information can be of value. In short, there will be more of a human touch, I hope.
For instance, the man I was speaking with this morning has a pattern in his chart indicating normal work hours simply aren’t for him. People with this pattern have a very challenging time with ‘normal’ time expectations. The habits of getting up or going to bed early can be almost physically painful for these people. In fact, an ideal routine for these people would be to start work around 11:00 am or noon, and to work into the night.
What I wasn’t expecting when I identified this pattern in his chart was how this information would touch him. He went on to tell me how difficult it has always been for him, as he has tried to fit into common expectations. He admitted he is usually the last one in the office every day and although no one says anything to him, he certainly notices the strange looks. The fact his superiors know he stays later than everyone else has always helped him deal with the situation, but it hasn’t helped his self-concept. He went on to say he has always thought the problem was with him, that, “I am broken somehow.”
Some time was spent explaining to him how the inability to be up at dawn was perfectly normal for him. There is nothing wrong with him. He is not weak or lacking in moral fibre; he simply has a well- aspected Varnada Lagna in the 12th house. His relief in hearing this news was almost tangible.
He is hoping to make a career change soon and the direction in which he expects to be moving will afford him the opportunity to choose his working hours. No more will he be expected to work from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Rather, he will be able to work all night if that suits him or if he is ‘on to something,’ and this prospect suits him completely.
It never ceases to amaze me how a seemingly small piece of information that normalizes a person’s behaviour or attitude, can make such a profound difference to their lives and their attitude toward themselves. This is truly one of the blessings of Jyotish.
