Recent discoveries made by scientists claim everything and everyone is connected. The words of the South African champion of freedom Bishop Tutu confirms these findings. He explained the meaning of the Zulu word Ubuntu. “Ubuntu is the essence of being a person. It means that we are people through other people. We cannot be fully human alone. We are made for interdependence.“ The definition of Ubuntu reminds us of our natural connection and how important that is.
Even with global connections as immediate as it is we seem to have forgotten how much we need each other. Vast numbers of family groups have fallen apart and even neighborhood connections have faded. Yes, this loss is due to distances and the need for employment, but second families can be found no matter where we go. Did the ancients of other cultures know more than we realize?
