Consciousness is necessary to maximize the benefits Jyotish can provide. Being conscious is more than simply having open eyes; it is the awareness of personal responsibility and feelings, positive and negative.
How many times do we ignore our feelings and later say we knew the action we took was not in our best interest? When we do something like this we usually have an opportunity to learn a lesson, and rarely is it one we enjoy.
How is this magical state of consciousness achieved? What sorts of things can we do to help ourselves along the way?
The first step is to take a slow, deep breath and hold it for a short time before slowly letting it out. This action provides the moment of clarity necessary for clear thinking and evaluation of alternative behaviours in any situation.
The second step is to be aware of our feelings and the conflicting ideas we hear within ourselves. Initially don’t try to do anything about the inner conflict, just be aware of it. This action alone will lead to an awareness of possible behavioural choices. Ultimately, the choice of behaviour in any situation is for each individual to decide.
Like any habit becoming conscious takes time. The more conscious decision-making is exercised, the easier it is to do. The more conscious we are the more we can meet the challenges and blessings showing in our birth charts.
