Mercury has started its forward motion in both sidereal and tropical systems. The only difference between the two systems is the reference point for Mercury’s movement. For example, using a sidereal system Mercury is placed at 10° 31’ Taurus whereas in the tropical system Mercury is placed at 4°35’ Gemini.
The placement of Mercury in different signs will naturally result in different attributes however, that is not the focus at the moment. What is being focused on is the nature of having Mercury moving forward after a period of being retrograde.
Forward motion indicates high energy. In Jyotish high energy is called being rajasic. High energy feels good. Business, communication and general focus are some of the things commonly associated with Mercury. Knowing this to be true the energy being provided by Mercury, for the next few days, can be consciously harnessed and put to good use in the future. How can this happen? Watch the retrograde/forward cycle of Mercury.
The forward and retrograde action of Mercury creates a type of calendar. When Mercury is retrograde it is time to concentrate on finishing projects. Clear the decks of those lingering projects that sap energy. Toward the end of a Mercury retrograde period new ideas of all sorts will demand attention. In order to be ready to make use of those ideas it is necessary to have the time, space and energy to do so.
Start by paying attention to the timing of the next couple of Mercury retrograde periods listed below and start planning. Be as creative and productive as you can between now and mid- September at which time it’s down tools! No more ‘new projects’. From September 17th until October 9th focus on finishing up those little details that have gathered over the last couple of months. Following this cycle will ensure you are ready to greet the next high activity cycle when it starts in the fall.
