The major difference between Tropical and Sidereal systems has nothing to do with the accuracy of either system or their appropriate application.
This is the first, in a series of articles which will present a wide range of topics, directly and indirectly, associated with the use and application of Tropical and Sidereal astrology. Other related disciplines and branches of science, such as Physics, specifically non-locality, and current findings due to the expansion of scientific thought, such as near-death-experiences (NDE). Let’s begin.

Let’s begin.

The Dead Sea Scrolls and the Nag Hamnandi, writings (recently found hidden in the Egypt) spanning the first 400 years of our common era, explain the political turmoil during those times. Various writings provide extensive evidence showing the development of a political ideology merging with the creation of a new and unified religion. So, what does a political philosophy have to do with the acceptance of either Tropical or Sidereal astrology? It boils down to a matter of dominance and worldly control, if the ancient recordings are to be believed.

The fundamental difference between the older ways of seeing one’s spiritual well-being, and the new religion, was identifying who knew best: the individual or an external, self-appointed authority.
The older religions, or attitudes, held God being within a person, requiring no intervention by an outside source and that personal experience of the divine, called Gnosis, is gained through a process of self-knowledge and personal responsibility. They accepted the notion of reincarnation as fact. They considered men and women as equals. Knowledge of God was considered a personal matter. Therefore, tremendous variety of opinions existed.

The new religion put God in heaven and anointed other, self-appointed men, to act as interpreters of God’s wishes. Born bad, people need to conform to the instruction provided by the interpreters. Life became a one-shot deal: you passed and went to heaven or, failed and went to hell. Women lost status in the new party and dissenters were killed. The last point, regarding the removal of dissenters, has only recently declined, as readily available history shows.

The Sidereal chart represents the soul’s progress to date due to earlier behaviour. It also provides for the intervention of free will, as a person develops a consciousness of their decision-making capabilities. Life experiences are considered learning opportunities to develop personal consciousness.

The Tropical chart shows the planetary position of the planets at the time of birth and dictates the personality and material opportunities, a person receives, because of the planetary positions. The difference is subtle, but very powerful. One is in line with the ancient and diverse, concepts of conscious-knowing of unseen internal energy, while the other is aligned with a political philosophy seeking conformity. It’s not that information received from either system is that much different. Later, reasons for the similarity in the interpretation of the planets will be discussed.

Primarily, the difference is how each person sees their responsibility for dealing with the energies of the planets. Obviously, there is much more to this subject. For the moment, it’s vital to remember the difference between these systems is the result of a political attitude and has nothing to do with their accuracy or appropriate application.
